Sheri was born in 1981 in Califorina and was raised in Colorado, where she currently resides with her husband, José Kabeya. Since childhood, Sheri has always had a desire to work in Africa. Through the encouragement of missionaries from her church as well as her faith in Christ, Sheri participated in various mission activies throughout high school. This passion to serve others from diverse backgrounds inspired her to study Social Work at Taylor University in order to learn tangible ways to empower people to move forward.
While at Taylor, Sheri studied at Daystar University in Kenya and volunteered at a home for street boys for 5 months. Three years later, Sheri returned to Kenya for 4 months to work alongside Nairobi Chapel in their various ministries serving people infected and affected by AIDS. In May 2005 Sheri returned to Africa, this time to DR Congo where she spent time with various Morning Star Center volunteers and partners.
Currently, Sheri works for an international adoption agency with hopes of providing safe and loving homes for the many orphans of the world. |
