The mission of The Morning Star Center for Social Progress is the enlightenment and development of all the people of Africa. The Morning Star Center for Social Progress is a nonpartisan, nonprofit institution devoted expressly to providing social improvement services to all people in every community.
It is our mission to begin with those in the most need. Social Progress requires intervention in several different areas of life, therefore the Morning Star Center will provide many different yet related services to invigorate and inspire social progress.
Morning Star Center is currently working in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), formally Zaire. We are working toward social progress by providing a three fold outreach to the people of Congo. We provide Elementary Education, Technology Training Education, and Health Care.
We are currently in the process of constructing a building to house our elementary school program. However, we are only part way through this process, and we need support to better serve the students of Congo. Despite these hardships, we are already helping children through our program and we will continue to do so regardless of the construction progress.
Recently we were able to move our Technology Training Education into a larger building through the generous support of people like you! However, unlike the United States, the electricity in DRC is not consistent and fails frequently; there are unpredictable brown and black outs which occur on a regular basis. We received a generous donation of computers but because of these power inconsistencies we are unable to run them efficiently. This leads to a serious problem while teaching computer classes. We are currently working to purchase generators to keep class going, even when the power doesn’t. We cannot do this without your generous support!
MSC is working to provide world class health care to the Congolese people. Currently we are working with local doctors to help them procure supplies and meet the needs of the people of the Congolese. Even though we shipped some supplies over through the help of Project C.U.R.E., more supplies are in high demand! We are continually working to send equipment to Africa to help the ongoing fight with rampant diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Malaria, African Trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness), Typhoid Fever and other serious ailments which are plaguing the people of Africa. This daunting task will be fulfilled with donations from generous hearts that are willing to stand up and say “I care about the less fortunate and I will do something about it.”
We are asking that you consider partnering with us to help fight disease, educate and equip the people of Africa to succeed! Please consider an empowering donation as we continue to endeavor by help these people!

The Second Morning Star Humanitarian Trip to Congo: 05/30/09 - 06/13/09
We are partnering with Church in the City on a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo at the beginning of June. We will be bringing a number of supplies over to the community including Medical Supplies like band-aids, headache reliever and Neosporin, lightly used clothing, and school supplies such as backpacks, pens, pencils, paper and crayons.
Also, we have started working with Healing Waters International to setup two water membrane filters to provide clean drinking water for the local population. Each filter costs $900 each so we are trying to fundraise $1800 for these filters and another $2000 for the supporting equipment so we can get installed when we arrive in Kinshasa.
Your generous support is deeply appreciated to help make this trip a success! If you have any immediate questions please call Jeremy Watson at 303-842-1265. Thank you.
Morning Star Center's first primary school started on September 1, 2008. One of the biggest challenges is to provide clean and running water to over 300 children who attend our school. It is very costly for the school staff to provide clean water to these kids whenever they are thirsty as the school staff will need to walk several miles in order to buy a limited quantity of water. ...
All kids attending Morning Star Center school come from poor families with very limited resources to provide for themselves food, clothes, etc....
Morning Star Center is planning a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo in June 2009....
